Why you should have both Medium AND your own blog

Medium Logo

Sorry about my first post. You shouldn’t really need to consider platform you should use for blogging. The real answer: You need BOTH.

Before I explain to you why you should have both, take this scenario:

“Molly wanted to create a blog, because she was very interested in food. However, she couldn’t decide whether to host it on medium or her own blog. She decided to use her own blog because she would be able to personalize the colors, style and there was no branding. Molly decided to setup Google Analytics to see how many people were visiting here blog. However, no one visited her blog, and Molly became very sad.”

Our imaginary character, Molly, wasn’t able to market her blog properly. With medium, she might be able to get more viewers on her blog

“Molly wanted to create a blog because she was very interested in food. However, she couldn’t decide whether to host it on medium or her own blog. She decided to host it on medium because it was easier to set up and free to host. However, when she checked to see how many people were looking at her blog, she found that it was not very many, and became very sad.”

Now back to the topic:

You may be wondering how Molly could gain more followers. The answer is simple. She just has to use BOTH platforms

😮

This is how the story should have gone:

“Molly wanted to…(blah blah blah) When she checked how many people viewed her blog, she could not believe her eyes. 200! Molly soon became a famous blogger and joined the medium partnership program, making tons of money”

You kind of get it.

The moral of the story. Always start BOTH a medium blog and a website blog
